Club Holiday in South Wales: Members are looking forward to this relaxed holiday in South Wales, organised by John Campbell, with opportunities to visit the Brecon Beacons, Royal Mint, a revitalised Cardiff, the National Botanical Gardens of Wales and the St Fagans National History Museum.

The plan to occupy all 19 double rooms in the newly refurbished West House Hotel, in Llantwit Major, is under threat however, as two members have recently withdrawn from the trip due to conflicting hospital appointments.

Anyone interested in taking up these places on the holiday, which is timed for the period 17th - 21st June, should contact John as soon as possible.

Annual Pétanque Competition: Organised by the Lentune Ladies and scheduled to be held on 26th June at the Filly Inn, arrangements for this event are now under review, following the closure of the pub for business reasons.

Watch this space for further information and keep practising.

Wine Tasting: This popular annual event will be held at South Lawn Hotel on 17th July, commencing at 17.30 hours. It will be presented this year by Priory Wines of Lymington, accompanied by South Lawn’s sommelier.

The theme is to be “quaint quaffing wines” and participants will sample a total of 10 wines (1 sparkling, 4 white, 4 red and 1 dessert wine), accompanied by a suitable range of “nibbles”. It promises, as always, to be an instructive and enjoyable evening.
