Lentune Probus Men met for lunch on 14th March, when Mike Lee of Lymington Town Tours gave an wide-ranging talk on "The History of Milford". As well as covering the history and development of Milford viilage, Mike spoke of people, personalities and properties. He traced the gradual development from a rural village into quiet small seaside town.  We learnt about aborted property development and the large houses such as Milford House, Newlands Manor, Hotel Victoria, and The White House . Mike spoke about personalities, their achievements and scandles, including Cornwallis, Whitby, De La Warr,  Kivernall  and Cornwallis-West,  And, of course, no tale of Milford would be complete without a mention of smuggling !

Our speaker in April will represent LPA Made Simple, the organisation recommended by Age UK, which specialises in drawing up and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney for finance and care.

The annual Lentune Probus Club Skittles Competition was held on 23 February 2022 at The Huntsman of Brockenhurst. Lentune Probus and the Lentune Probus Ladies clubs fought for the Clubs' highly prestigious Skittles Trophy. Some 35 Members fought for supremacy at a friendly but competitive event, played over three rounds of full-size skittles. A convivial supper was enjoyed by all.

Lentune Ladies met for lunch on 2nd March and enjoyed a most interesting talk by Sandra Simmons entitled  "A Day in Iran as a Housewife". Sandra recounted the experiences, at times shocking, of life as a woman in Iran in the 1970's. Sandra returns to Lentune Ladies in September to present her third talk in a series on Iran entitled "Life After Iran".

Spring at last seems to be in the air. With the sun reappearing, the Club has visits to the New Forest Fruit farm and the Bursledon Brickworks coming soon. Members are also looking forward to the Spring Luncheon in May at MJ's Restaurant and the June holiday in Kent.
