Lentune Probus Club was treated to a fascinating and very amusing talk at its May monthly meeting by Malcolm Wells MBE who took us through his diverse and varied life. Achieving a grade 8 in playing the cello at school provided the opening to join the Army Symphony Orchestra where he rose to principal cellist and played for many solemn state occasions, in addition to a number of less and possibly more entertaining ones leading to some very enjoyable and humorous anecdotes. After serving as a medic in the Gulf War and having completed 24 years service, including charitable work which lead to him being awarded the MBE, Malcolm retired from the army.
He then worked for 16 years as a spokesman for Canine Partners, an organisation which transforms the lives of physically disabled people by partnering them with assistance dogs and greatly enhancing their lives.
Malcolm is currently fundraising for the the charity Literacy in a Box. His wonderfully fluent, informative and at times extremely funny talk was a real pleasure to listen to.
