SALISBURY CATHEDRAL GRAFFITI TOUR
9th September 2026
Did you know the walls of Salisbury Cathedral are covered in historical graffiti? Our Club's private tour of the Cathedral will explain who made these marks and what they mean.
Our expert guide will show us hexafoils and curses, gaming boards and music, plus symbols of religion, heraldry and pilgramage, in a tour lasting approximately 75 minutes. We shall also see design drawings left by the stonemasons who crafted this beautiful building. And we shall learn the hidden stories of people who worked, worshipped and visited the Cathedral during the past eight hundred years.
Salisbury Cathedral is fully accessible and our tour is to be undertaken in two groups of 8 persons, to ensure we benefit most from our guide's knowledge. The groups will commence their tour at either 11.00am or 2.30pm.
The cost of the tour is £17.60 per person, inclusive of admission to the Cathedral.
Subject to demand, there will also be guided floor tours of the Cathedral at no extra cost. Talk to organiser Bill Basham if you are interested.
The two groups will have lunch together in the Cathedral's Refectory, commencing at 1.00pm.
You should travel to Salisbury in time to commence your designated tour or join the group lunch, as appropriate. Car sharing is recommended. Please talk to organiser Bill Basham if you need help with arranging a lift. Parking, including Blue Badge parking, is available in the Cathedral grounds for a £10 charge.
The cost of our tour includes full-day access to the Cathedral, so you can arrive early and leave later if you and your passengers wish.
Payment for the graffiti tour should be made by BACS to the Men's Club account by August 14th please. Payment for lunch should be made directly to the Refectory on the day.
