John Ellis founded and ran his own engineering company, designing and manufacturing machinery used in the production of plastic products, especially in the European and US automotive sectors.

On retiring, he sold the business and, three years later, moved to live permanently in the New Forest. 

He is a member of Sway and District Probus Club, where he was Social Secretary then Chairman, is a founder member of the Forest Investment Club and a Life Member and Volunteer at the Beaulieu National Motor Museum.

Our talk "The Road Ahead" is one of a series covering the history of automobiles and automobile manufacturing. It takes a look into the future, reviewing vehicle usage, the increasing use of electronics and possible future developments.
